Like the intensity is important also frequencies generated by PEMF devicesand need to be understood equally well.
Different PEMF devices use different frequency ranges and they vary widely. Before going into details and elaborations on the differences between the pulsed electromagnetic fields therapy systems here under follows explanations about pulsing frequencies first.
The name pulsed electromagnetic fields do indicate already that electromagnetic energy is transferred into the body by means of pulsing the energy with a specific repetition rate called frequency. Frequency is expressed as how many pulses per second are supplied by the PEMF device.
The first person to explain frequency was the physicist Heinrich Herz and as such frequency is expressed in Hertz (Hz).
For example, 1 Hz means 1 pulse per second; 2 Hz means 2 pulses per second, etc.
This illustration shows the differences between the different frequencies: the more waves in the same time window, the higher the frequency is.
The frequency of the purple waves at the bottom is 4 times higher than the frequency on the top red waves.
In America the mains frequency of the household outlets changes 60 times per second in direction (contrary to e.g. Europe where it is 50 times per second). Likewise in the USA the power is rated as 115 Volt - 60 Hz while in Europe 50 Hz.
Frequency ranges of pulsed electromagnetic fields devices are usually between 1 Hz going up to 1000 Hz. Many independent studies done during the last 3 decades do clearly show that frequencies in order to be beneficial for human applications should be between 1 and 50 Hz. Pulsing electromagnetic frequencies higher than 100-200 Hz quickly decrease in their ability to penetrate into the body and as such are hardly beneficial for cells and bones deep inside the body. Effects are similar as shown in the picture on the previous intensity section.
It is not yet clear which exact frequencies are associated with specific diseases, bones, cells and body functions. Some gurus hold that frequencies in the range of 1-15 Hz are more important, and others prefer to treat with frequencies in the 10-50 Hz range. Thatswhy the Parmeds systems offer a pulsing frequency ranges between 1 and 50 Hz to offer all possibilities.
It is of importance to understand that each person reacts different to the similar pulsed frequencies. Stating that specific frequencies are related to specific diseases or body energizing is a common mistake. When we want to assure effective PEMF therapy we need to treat during the same therapy session with different frequencies.
The body tend to 'adapt' to a single pulsed frequency after a very short time (minutes) and devices which change only intensities and at the same time using the same frequency are ineffective after already 8 minutes.
Frequency modulation is performed not by mixing different frequencies during the same pulse but by changing the pulse frequency every couple of minutes! By changing the pulsing frequency during the same therapy session automatically we get the very best possible effects.
Almost all systems offer just a couple of programs. This means that for each increasing program number the output energy is increased. Other devices supply the exact same output intensity and do only change the frequency of their programs.
The Parmeds PEMF models are designed with a combination of both intensity and frequency changes during the same program sequence fully automatic. Thus the 'body adaptation' factor is cancelled and the energy transfer is very effective, and the results are much better than possible with any other system because of application of different frequencies during the same therapy sequence.
Each Parmeds model has 10 built-in programs inside the unit. The models that hook up to a personal computer or laptop can be controlled by the PC software protocols and/or the user can easily create their own programs.
This is an example shows how to set up your own therapy protocol with the Parmeds software on your own computer. You can save the set protocol in the database for future use.
The complete program runs fully automatic in chronological order, according to the frequencies and intensities set for each stage.
The total treatment time for this example is 1 + 3 + 4 + 7 + 1 = 16 minutes. During this time the different chosen intensities are used in combination with their corresponding chosen frequencies.
This way, almost all possible combinations are possible. This is the reason for the popularity for the Parmeds professional comprehensive therapy system in PEMF therapy centers.
